Artist's Comments

A nice, full perspective render of my cathedral model with skylight illumination. This cathedral project was pretty demanding since I had a very limited time budget to work with, and I had to construct a separate interior model as well. Nevertheless, it was a blast to work on, and I learned a ton about modular construction (that is building only certain segments of the overall geometry and cloning them to speed up the modeling process). A lot of my inspiration for the design came from famous European cathedrals constructed in the middle ages such as the Chartres Cathedral of France.

Wow, awesome; very well done.

All that has ever been created was done so for a reason, even if that reason is just for it to be.

Looks good, you need to watch out for that texture tiling on the trees though.

Wow, looking good. Any chance of a closeup on some of those stained glass windows? They look great, but I can't really make out much detail.

Hey,

Wicked cool, love the cathedral and the background they fit really well together. A thing or two you could look into if your ever going to retune it, the first there is something odd about the trees, i dont know quite how to describe it but they just seem a little 'hmm'. Another thing is that even though global alumination works great for most renders it doesn't always give you the weight effect you might want to have for realism. For example in this case the GlobAl gives the cathedral one awsome look but then does so that the mountains and the ground dont work the nicest together with the stone fence and the cathedral.

Just a few thought ;) awsome render though, keep em coming. And if you come out with an update then let me know.

Regards,

Thanks a lot buddy. I always appreciate great comments :) I do have a few renders I'll post without the skylight illumination which give a different look and mood to the entire scene. The trees in my opinion could be textured in a different way, but I do like the barren look they have. Yeah, I totally agree with you on the ground and mountains versus the cathedral. I think they could be a tad darker to blend in better with the foreground models  Something which I'll defnitely work on in the update along with more foliage and little details here and there. I'll keep you posted x-c!
